Vera Marie Weber is a music composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, California. A first generation American and dual citizen of Germany, Vera works primarily in the realm of film music composition in the European industry.
With over a decade of experience scoring various media and being a composer assistant, Vera's solo film music career took off in 2022 when she composed the original music soundtrack for the highly acclaimed German/Austrian drama TV Series “Am Ende - Die Macht der Kränkung”, which is available on most streaming platforms. Since then, she has scored 3 feature films in 2023 which aired in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. She is currently working on several more exciting, upcoming film projects this year including a Netflix series, several TV films, and a feature film for the big screen.
Her sound world is known to be eclectic, modern, and ethereal, blending unconventional textures & timbres with classical sensibilities. Vera has a knack for writing memorable hooks, from film themes to catchy pop songs. A lover of experimentation, she regularly incorporates prepared piano techniques into her compositions as well as her own singing voice. Her primary instruments are piano, voice, and electronics.
True to her education from a famously forward-thinking university – California Institute of the Arts (BFA ‘19 – Performer-Composer) – Vera is a highly versatile and prolific artist. A lover of diversity and nuance, she has a strong intuition for realizing a large spectrum of artistic visions, whether she is the leader of the project or a team player. An artistic chameleon, Vera’s art spans from commercial to noncommercial works; from avant-garde soundscapes to pop songs, free improvisation, classic film soundtracks, to multimedia concept works. She also has a harpsichord and is a baroque music enthusiast; the works of J.S. Bach being the reason she fell in love with music at a very young age.
